Join us in celebrating 40 incredible years of the Beargrease by making a difference for our four-legged athletes and the dedicated teams that keep them safe and thriving.

The Beargrease Veterinary Team is a group of specially trained professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to care for the 600+ sled dogs that make this race extraordinary. They arrive days before the race and remain on-site for a full week, working around the clock with little sleep to ensure the health and well-being of these amazing canine athletes.

Your donation, no matter the amount, directly impacts the race and the care we provide. Here’s how your generosity helps:

  • SAFETY: From the canine athletes to the mushers, officials, and volunteers, safety is our top priority. Your support helps us maintain the highest standards for everyone involved.
  • RACE PURSE: Mushing is a costly sport. Marathon Team Kennels often house 50, 60, 70 or more dogs, each requiring daily care and feeding. A strong race purse attracts competitive teams and ensures the best care for the dogs. 
  • STRAW: High-quality straw is essential for the dogs’ recovery on the trail, providing them with a warm and inviting place to rest after each leg of the journey.
  • VETS & SAFETY TEAMS: Coordinating and supporting our volunteer veterinarians, safety personnel, and race officials is a significant logistical effort. Your donation helps us keep these vital operations running smoothly.
