I grew up in Superior, WI and graduated from Superior High School. For college I moved out to Missoula, MT to study Wildlife Biology. I grew up spending lots of time outside on the North Shore of Lake Superior, Isle Royale, and in the Boundary Waters. I continue to filled my summers and free time in the past few years with a combination of sled dog and wildlife fieldwork. I love just about any outdoor activity including canoeing, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and trail running. After living mostly in Montana the past few years, I’m excited to be able to return to what was my local dogsled race growing up!

Growing up, my parents Chris and Ingrid Evavold had a small sled dog kennel outside of Superior, WI. My dad started a dogsled and toboggan building business called Black River Sleds. They ran recreationally and competed in local races like the Beargrease and skijoring competitions. I loved growing up around the dogs and helping raise puppies! Ever since they stopped running dogs when I was in elementary school, I have been determined to try it out myself. During my first summer in college (2020) I began working at Nature’s Kennel, owned by Tasha Stielstra, in McMillan, MI. I have since worked a few summers there and am now completing my second winter season as a dogsled tour guide. I have also volunteered in dogsled kennels on Svalbard, worked with the sled dogs at Voyageur Outward Bound School in Ely, and this summer will be a Kennels Ranger in Denali National Park. Safe to say I’m enjoying the sport and am very excited to participate in one of the races my dad also competed in (and on a sled we built together!).
