I graduated from Vet School in 1984. Then moved to northern Minnesota, started a vet practice and started mushing in 1985. I handled for Pete Redmond for the Beargrease marathon in 1986. Ran sprint races for a couple of years and ran my first short Beargrease 130 race in 1988. I raced mid-distance races; Mid Minnesota 150, UP 200 (multiple times), Esslinger Classic, Midnight Run, Saskatchewan Cam-Am, Percy DeWolfe Race (Dawson City Yukon Territory/Eagle Alaska). Finished 7th in the 2004 Beargrease Marathon. My wife Robin finished 10th in the Beargrease Marathon in 2003 and 2005 and won the ten dog Beargrease 150 in 1999. I have done many, many winter camping trips into the BWCA and Canadian wilderness with dogs. Also enjoy canoeing, boating, camping, fishing, hunting.

Reading Call of the Wild when I was 10 years old! I ran my first team at 28.
