After stumbling into the dog world four years ago, my life has become all dogs, all the time! I spend my winters running dogs and handling for Sawtooth Racing and those very excited Alaskan Huskies and I find ourselves in Juneau, Alaska in the summer, running dogsled tours up on the Herbert Glacier. When I’m not mushing you can find me watching movies, running, writing, or driving aimlessly along the county roads, always accompanied by my retired sled dog, Flight.
Sawtooth Racing
I was 22 when I very unexpectedly started running dogs at YMCA Camp Menogyn after taking what I thought would be a one season gig for the summer. Before I knew it, my one summer job turned into one fall and winter and then once I started mushing the dogs, I knew it was utterly hopeless; I wanted nothing more than to run dogs. After two winters at Menogyn, I went to work for Sawtooth Racing, where my love of dogs and mushing only continued to grow. Working for Matt and Erin has been an absolute joy and I may be biased, but I think they’ve got the best dogs out there!
