Every year, each Beargrease musher is sworn in as an official U.S. mail carrier, and take letters that you write to a post office at the end of the trail, just as John Beargrease did 100 years ago. We call this tradition “Trail Mail”.
Trail Mail carries on the tradition of John Beargrease. Commemorative envelopes are created by local artists for this historic event. When used to send mail via dog sled, it becomes treasured by the receiver and highly collectible.
